Easter Rice Krispie Treats.

I was commissioned to bring the Rice Krispie treats for daughter's kindergarten Easter party.  And, you know me...I couldn't just make them the traditional way. (Not sure why I tend to go overboard with everything. Simplicity is not my forte.) I think they turned out cute, but check out son's face below! He's not so sure that the blue Rice Krispie treats are edible. But, I assure you, they are. And the 5 to 6-year-olds they are intended for will love them.
Here's how you make 'em:

EASTER RICE KRISPIE TREATS
3 tbsp butter
10 oz. pkg mini marshmallows (fresh marshmallows work best)
6 c. Rice Krispies
Food Coloring
Easter candy and/or sprinkles

In large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Add 4-6 drops food coloring and mix. Remove from heat.
Add cereal. Stir until well coated. Mix in desired amount of pastel-colored sprinkles or Easter-themed candy.
Press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool.

  3. His expression is priceless! I wish we could bring in homemade goodies to school but it's against school policy. Lame treats here!

  5. Yum! But I bet C's face is more, "How can I get one without mom looking?" than "Is that edible?" :)

  6. Does your school not have the store- bought only rule? It is the one thing I hate about my daughter's school. What lucky kids they were when they saw those.
