I'm having so much fun answering all your questions over on Formspring. Please keep them coming. I'm loving it!
I seem to be getting questions every 3-4 days about my hair and makeup, so instead of answering them over there...I decided to bring it to my blog. I am no hair and makeup expert, but I have found some products that I truly love. Others, I buy because they are a bargain.
When it comes to make-up, I am pretty boring. My entire stash is from only 2 companies: M·A·C and Mary Kay. A family member of mine sells Mary Kay, so I get it for a great price. I really like Mary Kay, but I couldn't give up my M·A·C eyeshadow, eyeliner or lipstick - even for a great discount. I really tried to, but I ended up going back.
I have a few make-up items that I can't live without.
01. M·A·C fluidline gel eyeliner. This is amazing stuff! It lasts ALL day and goes on easily with a brush. I have it in Blacktrack.
02. M·A·C eyeshadow. I love the colors they offer and the way it stays on all day. I usually stick to coppers and plum colors. My ALL time favorite color is Woodwinked. I think it looks good on everyone.
03. M·A·C lipstick. I use Viva Glam V the most, but I like the blue-pink color of my Viva Glam VI as well. I adore my Mary Kay Lip Gloss! I actually have three colors that I alternate between. The one shown is Gold Rush, but I think my favorite is Fancy Nancy.
04. Good Brushes. Someday, I'd like to own the M·A·C brushes, but they aren't in the budget. In the meantime, I found these Sonia Kashuk Brushes from Target work pretty great.
When it comes to make-up, Mary Kay is barely above average. However, when it comes to skincare, I think their products are amazing!! I use their entire Timewise line, including their microdermabrasion. I really, really love it. The little blue bottle is their Cooling Eye Gel. It helps with bags under the eyes from staying up too late too many nights in a row.
I adore hair products! I alternate between different shampoos and conditioners. I really like Nexxus, which I am using now, but I also love Biologe and Nioxin. (I bought my ginormous Nexxus bottles at Costco. I think they were around $25 each.)
I am passionately in love with my straight iron. My hair stylist, Julie, recommended it to me and it was well worth the money spent. It is this one by Infrashine. It is normally $120, but you can sometimes find it for $85-90.
The three products I use and could.not.live.without are:
Nioxin Thickening Spray
Aquage Uplifting Foam and
Modern Elixers Styling Cream
I am still on the lookout for the perfect hair spray. Let me know if you have one you love.
I hope I answered everyone's questions!

ReplyDeleteGreat tips, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have that same straightener and love it. I kind of want to look into Mary Kay now, it's been a long time since I ordered anything from them.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you on the mac eyeshadow. And the paint pot...pure magic! I love those brushes from Target too. Especially when I almost had a heart attack over the price of the mac ones.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on Woodwinked from MAC, it's my all time favorite eyeshadow. ever. period. the best. my brother used to work for MAC, so we got the hook ups... but unfortunately, he doesn't work there anymore. Full priced items blow. hA!
ReplyDelete:)

MAC eyeshadow IS the best.
ReplyDeleteso is the purple marykay gel.
& i have the same flat iron :)
My all time favorite hairspray is big and sexy. (red can) works like a charm :)
ReplyDeletebig sexy hair is the BEST hairspray ever. you will never go back
ReplyDeleteI need to try your favorite mac color- mine is all that glitters. I use those same shades of lipstick, except in gloss. My tip for finding the brushes more affordably is to wait for the Nordstrom anniversary sale. They usually have a set (the brushes aren't as long, but it hasn't been an issue for me). I got my first five in that set and then I've added to it a brush at a time.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Mary Kay! I just became a consultant about a month ago myself! :)
ReplyDeleteDid you leave Twitter & Formspring? What else? Miss seeing you there! Any regrets?
ReplyDeleteI did leave formspring and twitter. No regrets. I've been much happier spending that time with my children. I've decided to focus on my family and do only blogging for now. Who knows...I may be back in a while, but for now, I'm loving my space from the www.
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking and missing me! It makes me feel good!
