My other two children went through teething without a hitch. Maybe a little discomfort. I think we even dealt with a small fever once.
Baby D, on the other hand, is having a really hard time. His gums are red and swollen and he had a fever of 102° yesterday. He is so sad and just wants me to hold him while standing. At nearly 20 lbs, my arms were aching after 6+ hours of holding. He is at it again today. I feel so bad for him. Please excuse me while I'm comforting my sweetie.
Teething advice welcome.

no advice, just commiseration. i was in the same boat last night. stand and sway, stand and sway. poor little dudes.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry he's having such a tough time. My oldest daughter used to chew on frozen pea pods. She still asks for them now that here 12 year molars are coming in.
ReplyDeleteAm in your exact predicament now. At least we know we're not alone! Sometimes I'm grateful for those moments when he wants me to hold him, though, because he has become just so active that I barely get a chance to anymore...so I am trying to treasure the time together....even if my arms DO hurt!
ReplyDeleteI have heard that amber necklaces help during teething. The baby wears them around their neck. A natural pain killer. I have many friends who swear by them. I haven't tried one but if my son's molars continue to keep him up at night I will be going out to find one.
ReplyDeleteI give my little guy a chilled apple he chews on the cold flesh and gets those biting cravings fulfilled. Sometimes I start it for him or even peel it but he does really well.. Just don't forget to watch and make sure he doesn't choke.. mine never has. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThat's the worst -- sorry you gave us your ora-gel! (I don't know how to spell that)
ReplyDeleteRyder's been the same way! There are some mesh teethers that you can fill with frozen fruit, veggies, etc that are great. Also, I've heard that big, cold pickles are perfect. I guess the cold and the texture really help. Never tried it, but it sounds like a good idea. Good luck! Teething is no fun!
ReplyDeleteI heard about the amber necklaces, too and just recently read the following post by Rachel http://racheldenbow.blogspot.com/2010/10/its-not-just-pretty-necklace_11.html
ReplyDeleteOh I am so sorry Hannah! good luck getting through it!
ReplyDeleteTeething tablets. I've found them at walmart. baby section? herbal section? can't quite remember.
ReplyDeletegood luck.
PS I would have suggested the teething tablets because I loved them for Ryder. But, they just recalled them. boo. check it out here http://www.hylands.com/news/hylands-teething-recall.php
ReplyDeleteHe is so precious! I love his blue-grey eyes. =)
ReplyDeleteAww poor little guy.

ReplyDeleteHyland's Teething Tablets - they're a homeopathic medicine, so they are completely safe and your baby can't overdose or have any harmful effects. You can find them at Target in the pharmacy, WalMart in the baby section or any health related store like Whole Foods, etc. They really saved me! And it's quite visible that the little ones feel better within a few minutes. HTH :o)
ReplyDeleteWe're in the same boat too. Cal's fevers have been at 101 the last few days too. Teething is NOT fun. Here's to our strong arms and aching backs! :)
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK!
I'm so sorry hon! Big hugs. I don't remember the boys having to much trouble teething. But I do remember using the tabs and the mesh teethers filled with chilled fruit. So they must have worked! ;o)
