As a member of the Wplus9's design team, I am asked to participate in one in particular: the Color Cue challenge hosted by Wplus9's owner, Dawn. The Color Cue gives your four colors every month to create with. Dawn gives no limits to what you can make, so it really could be anything. (Most people make cards, but don't let that limit you!) Look at the beautiful colors chosen this month:
This is my take on the colors for the month:
How to: Create a card base from kraft cardstock. Cut a kraft cardstock block slightly smaller than card base and stamp heart pattern with creamy brown ink. Tie brown ribbon around paper block. Die cut a frame in white. Ink edges. Stamp coral waves and a brown sentiment on top. Adhere to cardstock block. Cut flowers in several sizes. Wrinkle and layer. Adhere buttons with twine to center and looped ribbons for leaves. Adhere flowers to cardstock block. Attach cardstock block to card base using dimensional foam adhesive.
Stamps: Hooked on You, Background Builders: Hearts (WPlus9), Sentiment (Hampton Arts)
Paper: Kraft (Stampin' Up!), White (Neenah), Melon Berry (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Creamy Brown, Dark Chocolate, Rose Coral (Colorbox)
Ribbon (Offray), Dark Chocolate Button, Rustic Cream Button Twine (Papertrey Ink)
I hope to see some of you participating this month!
Hey there! I missed your calendar this month...did you post one and I missed it. No pressure...just wondering :) Also, can you tell me how you watermark your photos? I am just starting out in the web design business (as in I'm still doing sites for free...) and I need to watermark some photos. I love how yours turned out...will you tell me your secret? Plus I have to tell you I've been reading your blog for probably a little over a year now as inspiration for web design. I decided to get my certificate in it but I was so inspired by how you learned and made it into a business for yourself!
ReplyDeleteEmily - I do the watermark in photoshop.
ReplyDeleteAs for the calendar...Ack! I totally spaced it this month. Wow...it has been crazy.
I'll post it today.
Holy cute Hannah! You're really good at this whole designing cards gig! :)
ReplyDeleteI love these colors together and your card really WOWed me! I may have to try that challenge. I got hooked on challenges last December when I wasn't doing any workshops or classes. I too have made cards that I never would have thought of by working with a challenge. Thank you for all your inspiration. I enjoy reading your blog.

Do your kids still take two naps a day? I still don't understand how you have time to do all these crazy things!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Hannah! I love those dies from PTI, they are my fav!!!
ReplyDeleteLauren - my kids are excellent nappers, but I do almost everything at night. I stay up way too late.
ReplyDeleteThis is so, so gorgeous! Love the ribbon for the leaves and the fun patterns too. So awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the ribbon leaves Hannah, they are "new to me" and I love how the mimic the bow. And of course, I love everything else about the card too. ;o)
ReplyDeleteOoh, nice card photo. For some reason, I have the hardest time photographing my cars. They never look the same on screen as they do in real life.
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
