I have a confession: I am cheap. I am always on the lookout for a good deal, confident that I can find the expensive product at a cheaper price. I come from a family of bargain shoppers. We don't buy things unless they are obscenely cheap.
I have another confession: I love expensive things. I have developed a taste for the luxuries in life. A habit I picked up from my husband, who was taught that it is better to buy the best and be happy.
I've had to learn to appease my two loves: luxuries and bargains. Impossible? I think not. I have recently been caught buying a $199 diaper bag for $40 and $150 shoes for $29.
I have one more confession to divulge: I adore a certain expensive parfum. But...it is more money than my cheap heart can handle. Whenever I was in the mall, I would stop in to Nordstom and ask for a sample of it. Samples=Free=Obscenely Cheap. I've looked for a cheaper price with no avail. I tried to forget about my smell-love by purchasing a cheaper perfume by Lacoste last January, but it just didn't measure up and I've been unhappy since I purchased it.
My husband, being the gem that he is, bought me THE PARFUM for my birthday, and I have been in aroma heaven ever since. Oh my. It is the best. Sometimes, spending the extra money is necessary. (And, you won't waste money on the cheaper perfume that you will never end up wearing.) Check it out the next time you are in Nordstom. Ask for a sample...or two. And, then be ready to go back for more.

Oooh I can't wait to smell! I feel the same way about my beloved "Flower Bomb" by Victor & Rolfe... I'd never spend that kind of $$$ on perfume for myself, so DH surprised me for Mother's Day. :-) Here's to happy, cheap (for us anyway), sweet smelling gifts!
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfume I wear! Hardly anyone has heard of it - I love that it smells so different. (My husband bought me my current bottle!)
ReplyDeleteI'm a big believer in high quality perfume. I'll definitely check this out.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. Expensive perfume. I'm glad my husband has also recognized my need for perfume that doesn't smell like the high school locker room after cheerleading practice.
ReplyDeleteYou have to sample my selection of Penhaligon's perfumes. They rock. And a bonus--they are even more expensive than your b-day parfum! :)
Sorry I missed your birfday. Sounds like it was a great one. Hope your 27th year is awesome, my friend! XOXO
My husband gave that to me for my birthday before we were married. He admitted it was a selfish gift, since he liked it so much. It's definitely lovely.

ReplyDeleteI agree Hannah, I've worn that parfum for several years, it's simply divine! When I wear it, I usually get compliments! It's sweet and airy and delicious! I know it's a little expensive but I've somehow made mine last a long time, usually only wearing it on Sundays or when I go out with Brandon. He loves it too!
ReplyDeleteHappiest of Birthdays!
ReplyDeleteFrom Sarah - we've never met, but I visit your blog occasionally - such a lovely little place on the net.
Blessings.

I love that perfume! I used to wear it and was recently thinking maybe I should go back to it...
