Guns scare me. I didn't grow up in a gun-packing family, but I certainly married into one. J gets great pride every time he can talk me into shooting.
On Saturday morning, we were visiting the in-laws in Idaho. I wandered upstairs after a sick and semi-restless nights sleep to find my little family, in their pjs, shooting a bb gun outside. My heart stopped for a second and quotes from The Christmas Story started flooding my head. I asked my hubby, "What are you doing? I don't want my babies shooting a gun!" But, I also coldn't bare to tear them away. They were getting such a thrill, as was their proud father.
I ended up joining in on the game. It is true. No making fun of my form. I have held a gun a total of 3 times. And I was scared. And I am sporting a mammoth belly. I did pretty well, if I say so myself. Shot the milk carton 10 out of 10 times. J chose a harder target for me: a small metal pole in the garden about 1/2 acre away. Got it on my second try. Beginners luck. I had my eyes closed.
28 weeks pregnant in that picture. Belly is amazingly large with baby #3. Baby Bean jumped with joy after every kick of the gun. I think he takes after his daddy...they'll be hunting buddies one day.

you are so brave! jer tries to get me to shoot every once in a while when we are there and I am too chicken. your belly is adorable by the way. can't wait for baby #3!!
ReplyDeleteI also married a gun lover. So far I've only ever shot a gun once(a .22 rifle, the only thing I'll shoot,) though it was when I was about 7 months pregnant with my 1st. But I think I'd join the fun if I happened upon the hubby shooting a bb with the kids.
ReplyDeleteI am lucky to live in a gun-free country. Only some people are allowed to have guns (like hunters and policemen). And I fully support this.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to live in a country where I have the right to carry a gun. Even though I personally don't care for them, I'm still glad that we have that freedom here.
ReplyDeleteHi Hannah! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I always love to "meet" new blogging friends. Please stop by anytime!
ReplyDeleteI am not a gun lover either, but my kids think it's the coolest thing ever. A few months ago, we visited some friends in Oregon on their ranch. My kids thought that shooting the guns (and trying to shoot the squirrls) was the absolute highlight of our vacation ;)
Love the pregnant gun totin' picture! By the way, your blog is adorable!
I love the look of a pregnant woman with a gun:)
ReplyDeleteGuns give me the chills too, my brothers and their wives have gotten concealed weapons permits and they like to "pack heat" or whatever you call it to all the family parties.
