...autumn + oprah

My, oh my. How I love a beautiful October day. Days like today remind me of why I love the fall. Perfect weather. We ate a picnic lunch on the grass in the sun. It felt heavenly. October is in the running for my favorite month. My husband took an extra long lunch to join us today. He told me it was the highlight of his week. It truly was fantastic to be together as a family; something we don't get to do very often with our schedule. Our children were in heaven playing, as were we watching them play.

Did you all watch Oprah today? It was incredible and motivating. (Well...not so much the Oprah part, but the Stephanie part.) Nienie...what a beautiful, inspiring person she is. The show made me want to be a better mom; to slow down and enjoy the little things. Most of us will not go through a tragedy like hers, but what a tragedy it would be to waste away this precious time we have with our children! Time is so fleeting.

Side Note: I have a little confession to make. That was my first time watching Oprah EVER. I have seen a clip here or there on the internet, but I've never watched more than 3 minutes of the show. And...unless Nienie is on there again, I probably won't make it a priority. You'll have to explain to me what the big deal is. I don't get it.

  4. ahhhh, the oprah phenomenom...i started watching at 16 and have been hooked every since. some of the shows i skip, but for the most part i love the personal stories that people share, like stephanie's today. i was so glad to see nie's story finally make it to oprah. i really liked the dr. oz specials that she used to do on tuesdays. they were always really informative for health. i always seem to walk away learning something. crazy, i know, but true;-)

  5. I agree, I'm not an Oprah fan but I watched today too, just to see NieNie, it was great! I kept expecting them to say something about her blog or church, but they never did... I guess that's a topic for another show.

  7. i'm with you on the oprah thing... i think it's the way she interviews people- she doesn't let them answer, she interrupts them, but she does do a lot of good. so i just don't watch. :)

  8. see? your not the only one! there are lots of us who aren't sold on Oprah. i tuned in yesterday solely to see NieNie and, like you, won't be watching her again. like lily said, she does a lot of good but Oprah just kind of bugs me.

you look so cute in your Tulle sweater. i love that brand!

  9. I don't see the big deal, either. I'd probably love her if I liked talk shows in general, though, but I don't.

Except Jay Leno. I'd follow him anywhere and I'm so very glad he now comes on an hour earlier in the evenings.

  10. I am not a big TV watcher but I was alerted about NieNie being on and I did watch and I did cry - she has a beautiful spirit for life! It is so important that the message to each of us is to choose life no matter how hard.
Thanks for your kind comment today!

  11. I'm totally with you on the Oprah thing...loved watching Nie, but I don't plan on watching it any other time. I just don't understand all the hype.

(how did you make the 'sidenote' font smaller than all the other words?)
