I think we often only show our best selves on our blogs, so I decided today I'd show you the REAL me.
I work. A lot. Too much, in fact. I am trying desperately to cut back. But, in the meantime, I have to realize that I am not super woman. I can't do it all. I want to spend my free time with my kids and husband, so often housework gets pushed to the wayside. (My clean-freak mom would be horrified.)
This laundry has been sitting in my room since Friday last week. Sad, I know.

1. I ate and fed my kids sugar cereal for breakfast.
2. I only went to the gym twice last week.
3. My toe nail polish was put on a month ago, is half way chipped off and I STILL wear open toed shoes. (I know, i know...)
4. I have really dry skin around my hair line and it sometimes makes me look like I have dandruff. (I don't, i swear...but it still looks gross...)
5. My kids sometimes wear their PJ's all day.
6. I wash my sheets about every 6 weeks. (I know...it even grosses me out.)
Well...that's enough humiliation for one day.

I love you even more for being real!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up as I sit here looking about like you do right now. At least your bed is made- for me that happens only when I change my sheets- about every 6 weeks! And I'm not even working. Love ya!
ReplyDeleteHAHA Hannah you still are super mom! You're amazing at everything Even if you don't get up take a shower and get ready for the day before your family wakes up! Oh and the Laundry? do you call that laundry? IS there enough to do a real load?? hahaha
ReplyDeleteI agree with Janssen. It's always reassuring to find out that you aren't the only one with chipped toe nail polish, dry hairline or laundry on your bed.
ReplyDeleteOh, and p.s. I never go to the gym so hearing that you went twice last week only made me think even more highly of you! Thanks a lot. :)
Oh, I *never* have days or weeks (or even months) like that. Never! :)
ReplyDeleteThis was a picker upper for me Hannah! Actually, I've been reading a book that my friend Charne gave me for Mother's Day called "I was a really good mom before I had kids." It is so hilarious and TRUE! We all have very high expectations for ourselves and others, compare ourselves to other moms who seem to have and do it all. The reality is that its impossible to do it all. So kudos to you for your confession!
ReplyDeleteManjanique
where was the sign on the road to motherhood that said "look out! will lose dignity and self-respect for next 20 years" ? ha ha. don't worry, i am quickly finding out that we are all same: only 2 hands and 20 million things to do! Glad to see you are just as "normal" as the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteWhy you talkin' bad about me?! ;) Thanks for saying it out loud so that I don't have to.
ReplyDeleteps. Although the sheets thing... that one needs to change stat! go do it now...this is your mother speaking. ;)
Alrighty, Kami. I am changing the sheets right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm too chicken to post pictures of my everyday laziness...it's bad sometimes! :) It's nice to see that other bloggers are normal! :)
ReplyDeleteyour sooooo funny Hannah...most of my days are similar to yours :):)
ReplyDelete"Yup, I can relate only too well!"
ReplyDelete:) I can relate to most of that. #4 - I have the same problem. #2 - I don't work out at all, but I do own atleast 5 bellydance/fitness dvds #5 - I wear my PJ's all day. lol.
ReplyDeleteMy first trip to your blog and I am hooked.. You just said and did waht we all want to do, but are too afraid too, lol. I think we all should have a day a month that we show and tell our house, so that we can all feel "normal" and then feel good about ourselves.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Mechelle
Hannah,
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know you are like all the rest of us! Kuddos that you are concious of what is most important to you! The balance will come! ( And it does get easier when they get older... however I have to warn you... it gets more expensive! )
loved this post! I'm lucky to wash my hair most days... ha ha!
ReplyDeletep.s. if I looked lie your picture, I would praise the stars!
you look way too cute for that to be a bad photo and at least your bed is made. that is one thing to cross of the list.
ReplyDeletethanks for the honesty. it's refreshing.
I'm right on board with you for a few of those things -- especially the sheet washing -- and I have a baby that spits up on them!
ReplyDeleteLove that you're being real ^_^ So refreshing to see posts like this!
My sister in law changes her sheets every single week. She about died when I told her I don't! 6 weeks sounds about right :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your bedding! Where did you get it? Crossing my fingers that you bought it recently, and it is still available. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGlad that you can still love my bedding when it is covered in all that mess!!
ReplyDeleteI bought it about 6 months ago at Macy's. It is Martha Stewart's new line there. If she doesn't have that one, I am sure she will have others that are similar or cute. Good luck!
Thanks Hannah! Wonderful news for me...Macy's 6 months ago is alot more accessible than I was expecting. I love your blog! Thanks again-
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post, I love what you admitted to...I do most of the same things...
ReplyDeleteI have SO much to say about your LET'S TALK post, which led me to this post. And all I can come up with after seeing your "real" picture is that you're so cute, who cares about all that other stuff!
