I have a pet peeve. Okay...fine...I have a few. This one is a blogging pet peeve and is right up there with blaring blog music for me. Here is it:
I use google reader to keep up on all my blogs. I read a lot of blogs and I just don't have the time to visit each blog individually to see if it has been updated. (I LOVE google reader, by the way, and highly recommend it!)
My pet peeve is when people have their setting set so I can't see their full post in google reader. I understand that some of you are trying to make money based on your blog hits and that you want to encourage people to visit your blog rather that read it "the lazy way." BUT...for me...I usually read the few sentences that google reader does display and then never look at your post. (Snobby...I know.) It is not that I don't want to...I DO! That is why I am making this plea for you to change your settings.
So...for those of you who don't know if you have this feature set up or not, here is how you can check (or change *wink*) it.
1. If you use Blogger, log in to your dashboard. Click "Settings" and then click the "Site Feed" tab.
2. Under "Allow Blog Feeds" change it to "Full." (It would seriously make my day!)
3. Then click "Save Settings." Easy Peasy!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Mine will be loads of fun. (Working...working...and more working.) I have made a goal to not work weekends anymore, but it hasn't been possible so far. Hopefully next week...

I could not agree more! This is one of my biggest blogging peeves. It's especially bad when someone who HAD a full feed changes it to a partial feed. Makes me want to tear my hair out!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all- not sure if I've commented before or if I've just been a lurker... but I do love your blog designs!
ReplyDeleteAnd secondly- I hate that too! It's so annoying! And sad, but honestly, I unsubscribed to a lot of the blogs that were like that if they were just "ok" blogs! That's probably really silly of me- but it's true!
I totally agree with you on this [and the music]...and lately with my pregnant hormones I find myself letting the blogger know that it drives me nuts to not be able to read the whole post?? I also find with some blogs I have taken them out of my google reader because of that feature...ha ha!!! Thanks for sharing, it's good to know I'm not alone!
ReplyDeleteditto that, girl! that drives me nuts.
ReplyDeleteI agree. And I'm glad you shared the info because I had no idea about the setting.
ReplyDeleteMy pet peeve is all the music blaring... for some odd reason it jams up my computer, causing it to freeze, and then I have to start ALL over again. UGH!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, agreed, agreed!!!
ReplyDeleteSo, I've been struggling with the feed settings, recently. I get more hits/more comments when the feed is shorter, but it IS annoying when each post is only a stub. What do I do? I just want people to read/like my blog.
After a couple of months of internal struggle, I thought, "What do bloggers like Dooce, Nie Nie, and Smitten Kitchen do?" They have the full post up there. Then I changed my settings back.
Thanks for bringing it up.
P.s. LOVE the blog. Just bumped into it this week. Thanks for sharing your awesome-ness.
Thanks for the info! I'll check my blog's settings right now :)
ReplyDeletePS - Wonderful blog, by the way!
I couldn't agree more!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! I set mine to only do the title and could not for the life of me figure out how I did it and how to change it back. (I know...I'm such a dummy.)
ReplyDeleteThank you Hannah! I am going to share this on my sidebar to help spread the word. :)
ReplyDeleteI am THIS close to going to a partial feed now that I've sold out.
ReplyDeleteNo?
oh, please, Azucar! You blog it one of my favorites and that would make me sad. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy blog peeve is that even thought my feed is set to full, it still only displays my post-title in readers!
ReplyDeleteI've tried re-pinging the RSS feed, but to no avail.
If you know how to rectify this, please let me know!
Whoops! I just changed that but I will change it back. I have just started using Google reader, so I haven't had a chance to get any "peeves." LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you for educating me (and I am sure many others)
I had no idea that the site existed or what it did. I am a little green on blogging. Thanks for the help.
