It has been one of those days! (And I mean that in the best possible way.)
We didn't do anything special except spend lots of time together. My daughter and I played house and hair salon and my son and I practiced running.
We helped my sister make caramel popcorn. (Okay...we just watched her and ate her popcorn, but it was still fun.)
For dinner, I made Cicada's amazing panini and Ali's best tomato soup. (I'll post the recipes later.)
We had a wonderful Family Home Evening. My 3-year-old taught the lesson about how our bodies look like Heavenly Father's. It was sweet to see her teach it all by herself. We played hide-n-go seek for the activity.
See...nothing special. And yet, it has been one of my favorite days. Since General Conference, I have been trying to follow the counsel we received and enjoy the simple, everyday moments in life. I want to enjoy my kids while they are young. I don't want to miss anything! I don't want to wish away these already fleeting days. My daughter can carry on an almost-adult conversation and acts so old! My son is RUNNING! (I couldn't get him to walk very much a couple weeks ago and now he runs around the house!) They are growing up way too fast!
I love being a mom and today I feel especially lucky!
*the quote from above seems to be mentioned in a lot of general conference talks lately. I love it. It reminds me to enjoy the NOW...no matter what we are going through. Today will be a day that I will always remember. A "yesterday" that is anything but "empty."

I am glad I got to help. It was a fun relaxing day.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about this a lot too! I need to remember that life will never slow down and I better enjoy it every day!
