I really like having a place where I can just write whatever I want to write about. I like using this as my file for beautiful things and great ideas I find. I like being free to talk about random me-isms. BUT...if I don't have a blog focus...will people still visit? I worry that my life isn't interesting enough. How do you all decide on a focus for your blogs? Do you have a focus on your blog? If I keep it the way it is...mainly a bunch of random thought in my life...will people still read? Let me know what you all think.
Also...I am trying to think of a new title. If any of you have any amazing ideas, email me!!
I think the answer to this question really depends on your reason for blogging. If you're doing this as somewhat of a journal and a reflection of you, then I'd definitely keep it open like it is now so you can express whatever you're thinking about. Which leads me to the next question, I think "thinking about" gives you a nice wide umbrella for everything to fit under. If you're planning to narrow your focus to one thing, then I would change the name I guess, but I really enjoy the format of your blog now and the potpourri it encompasses. It's nice to get so much of what I enjoy reading in one blog instead of having so many specific blogs to subscribe to for cooking, shopping, parenting, style, etc.

It's a lot like Pioneer Woman, she has a bunch of random things as well and that is what makes it so entertaining. I will still read if you don't have a focus! :) As far as blog titles... I love your blog title, I have been tempted to copy it a few times but then realize how incredibly rude that would be. So, no suggestions from me! :)
ReplyDeleteI think that people read your blog now... the way that it is!! I don't think that you have to do a specific theme, I think that it's more interesting when it's all mixed up, just like life is sometimes.

Maybe we can trade, you can make me a cool header or something, since I don't have the graphic design talents that you have.
My blog doesn't have a focus either, so I am not much help here. But I don't necessarily think it needs a focus. My input is just to keep writing and posting about things you enjoy because it seems to strike a chord with a lot of people!
ReplyDeletei agree with christina - depends on your motivation. if you'd like to eventually have ads on your blog and use it as a money maker, it's a great idea to focus in on something in particular - that you have expertise or a special interest in. mine is much like yours - just whatever is on my mind, be it personal stuff, kid stuff, products, quotes, etc. for me, mine is a journal of whatever i happen to be into or interested in at the moment. and those seem to be the blogs i enjoy reading the most.
ReplyDeleteWell I don't really have any blog advice as I only lasted in the blogging world for about 2 months. However, I love reading about your recipes and cooking adventures. That's always fun. But I think random blogs are great. It gives us, the reader, a chance to get to know the complete person!
ReplyDeletei've thought about this stuff as well. our blog is about our family, and i like it to be that way for journal/scrapbook purposes. but i also enjoy the random post about something i discovered and love, and i also enjoy talking about parenting. i have considered making it more of my blog, rather than the family blog, which i think i will actually do. as far as titles go, this is something that i have been trying to do as well. and you're right, it's hard to find something that encompasses everything you want to talk about, while finding something unique, fun and catchy, that also says something about who you are... it's tough!
ReplyDeletei had totally forgotten that you had this blog, but i subscribed to it, so no worries now. i agree with what others said about deciding why you blog. if you like having a place to talk about whatever the heck you want, then make it that. a fun title i heard recently is: a few of my favorite things, or my favorite things..., something along those lines.
