Yes, at one time in my life, I couldn't bake a potato or boil an egg. (And that "one time" wasn't very long ago...) I remember when I was a senior in high school trying to cook pasta. I had no idea that I had to use water to boil pasta and ended up ruining my mother's pan. Yes, it is true; Sad, but true. (Confession: I took that pan and chucked it in the neighboring farmer's field cause I was too scared to show it to my mom.)
Now, I have actually developed a passion for food. I love it! I love cooking interesting things with ingredients most people have never heard of. I love making my food aesthetically pleasing and beautiful. I have way too many recipe books and actually read them FOR FUN! It is funny how time changes us...
I am so glad to benefit from your food skills. Remember when you made those sugar cookies several years ago? That was awesome...
ReplyDeleteI love that cooking and food is such a socially acceptable/trendy thing to do now.
oh, Jenny. Please don't remind me of those atrocities. Sick...
ReplyDeleteEd liked them, though, remember?
it is true, after that mac and cheese attempt I thought you were doomed to breakfast foods for the rest of your life. But I have to say, we are all very impressed. You have surpassed my wanna-be-chef-ness, long ago.
ReplyDeletelook how cute you are in the kitchen!!! I love the apron!!! cook on girl!
ReplyDeleteI also love the apron! I am so glad you wrote this post... it gives me hope. I will admit that I am not the best cook on the planet. As we have discussed, I am a baker, not a cook! I have to follow a recipe to the T in order for things to work out. So thank you for the little ray of hope. Maybe one day I will be able to cook... I know Jerry sure is praying for that day...
ReplyDeletei'm still waiting for the 'i want to prepare delicious foods for my family' gene to kick in. and i'm 38 years old. and the clock is ticking.

ReplyDeletei am laughing so hard at you chucking your pan in your neighbor's pan in your field! I am honored to have been able to taste some of your creations. I am willing to sample any time!
ReplyDeleteThis post is so funny! Tossing the pan is hilarious! You definitely rock it in the kitchen, Hannah.
ReplyDeleteGood job Hannah!!! Your rolls look great! Maybe someday I can catch the food bug and be a good cook too!
ReplyDeleteum, yes...remember how you are one of the best cooks I know! Your cooking is one of the things I miss most about living in Provo!
ReplyDeleteand that is a very hot apron.
You're way better than I. I do not like to cook and have to make myself. :( Maybe one day I'll develope the art of cooking.
ReplyDeleteI love food too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE your apron!
Oh Hannah, you crack me up! I can't believe you threw it in the field!! How funny. So there is hope for me- I just have to have the time outside of schoolwork!!
ReplyDeletegood for you Hannah.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing what you are pursuing in regards to this talent.
cookbook? cooking show? web cams in the kitchen? catering?
hope you share it with the world, (not just your family!) you talented girl!
i always tell new brides to never admit that they cannot cook because the label will follow them forever- go into a marriage telling everyone how much you enjoy it and how good you are at it and nobody will know the difference- and the day will come when you really will know how and you don't want to be stuck with the label that you haven't a clue....
ReplyDeletea family member named after a dog
- now that's different...
Wow! Those rolls look perfect!
ReplyDeletethat is awesome that you have come so far. i too have way too many cookbooks, and love to browse through them. i totally forgot you had this blog too. i will have to catch up on it!
ReplyDeleteHow cool!! You need to pass your knowledge on to me, because I HATE cooking. I won't say I'm the worst, but I pretty much stink at it most the time. No fun for me!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd when I think about cooking for probably 40 more years of my life I get so overwhelmed, I want to die!! lol.
