If you are wondering why I have been MIA, and why I seem to do it every month, it is because of my work deadline. I am the graphic designer for a magazine and have to turn in the book on the 20th of the month. So..yeah! I am done.
This month has been especially busy cause I have also had more than the average number of people contact me to design their website or wedding invites. Whew. Almost done with those too. So, I should be back for a while.
Since I last posted, other than a crazy work schedule, things have been pretty slow around here. Here are some of the highlights:

I had a wonderful brunch with two beautiful gals that I LOVE. The lovely hostess introduced me Monte Cristos. AMAZING! How did I not know about these? You should all look up a recipe and try them. (I would post hers, but I don't have it...)

I read Women of the Silk for my bookclub. I didn't hate the book, but I didn't love it either. It was a very easy read and I loved learning about the silk factories, but I didn't feel attached to any of the characters. Usually when I read a book, I can't put it down until I finish. With this book, however, I felt content reading a chapter at a time. I wasn't sad when major characters died, I wasn't worried for them when the Japanese were approaching. The author didn't build the characters enough for me to care about them. It wouldn't be a book I would recommend to anyone. If you want to read a good book about China, I recommend Wild Swans!

I finished up a photography class by Nicole Hill and learned how to use my new camera. I am so excited!! Now all I need is a few thousand dollars to buy some quality lenses. ha!
***A friend of mine had a goal for herself last month to post something on her blog everyday. It has been so fun to read, so I have decided to take the challenge myself during the month of March. Starting March 1, I will post something every day. I am not sure I have that much to write about, but I thought it would be fun to try. Anyone want to join me?

I read Women of the Silk for bookclub last year and felt very much like you did. It was fine, nothing great. What class from Nicole Hill did you take? I am always ALWAYS looking for a good photography class.
ReplyDeleteI took her 101 class. It is really fabulous. nicolehill.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI took Nicole's class last fall and really learned alot.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to your daily posts in March. I try to post every day but sometimes I just don't have anything worth recording.
I'd love to hear from you in one of your posts, a tutorial of sorts, about your wonderful banner and how to create one. It is so cute.
I'm in the same boat with my new camera. It was a pretty major purchase to buy it, and now I have to make even more major purchases for some decent accessories. I really want a new flash. Maybe Christmas will now be dedicated to the camera.
ReplyDeletei did a post every day in Nov., well that was my goal anyway, i made it almost every day - i am looking forward to checking in and seeing what you have to say all March long!
ReplyDeleteLove the posting every day of March idea. I should hop on board. Glad you met your deadline and have more time to play now!
ReplyDeleteWow. Sounds like you have some cool friends! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the posting every day idea. But I have been so ornery for the past two days I'm a little worried to let my grumpiness out.
that's funny - i just saw women of the silk on some reading must do list. and i had a mental note to get it from the library & read it. do you think i shouldn't waste my time?!
ReplyDeleteand i have to admit that when you wrote "that time of the month" i wasn't thinking the post would be about your busy work schedule right now! ;)
hayley...it is a super easy and fast read, so if it is a waste of time, it at least wont waste much time.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't read Wild Swans, it is 1000 times better.
